Cia Florada de Dança, composed by young dancers from NGO Grupo Primavera, presents the contemporary dance performance "Movimento à Portinari", inspired by the works of Cândido Portinari, one of Brazil's most important visual artists. The result of special research into the artist's childhood in Brodowski, in the countryside of São Paulo, the performance looks at Portinari's relationship with the earth, the sky, parties full of balloons, kites and games, as well as his view of female figures.
"We try to develop with the girls a view of his work that can drive the creation of the choreographies. It's a collective endeavour," explains the artistic director, Ana Clara Amaral. The cast, made up of 14 young dancers from Grupo Primavera, plus 7 guest and professional dancers, will present different moments from Portinari's work, starting with the poem "O Menino e o Povoado", followed by themes related to the artist such as "children playing", "women and cans", "retreatants", "mum", "brides", "passages and kites".
This project received supported by the grant "ProAC ICMS 2012 " with the sponsorship of Medley.
